NC CHF Legislative Report – February 2009

The North Carolina General Assembly convened January 28, 2009 to open the 2009-2010 session.
Since North Carolina has no session limits, it is expected to be later this year, perhaps late summer, when the 2008 “long session” adjourns. The deadline for filing public bills this year is March 26.

Citizens for Healthcare Freedom is working to file a health freedom bill within the next three weeks- The Consumer Health Freedom Act of North Carolina. The proposed language in this bill has been developed over years of work by notable health freedom advocates, in conjunction with a year long “legislative study” by a “Legislative Study Committee.” The study committee held a series of three public hearings in major NC cities (Raleigh, Asheville, New Bern) where more than four-hundred citizens expressed support for health freedom.

To date, this health freedom legislation has bipartisan support. One Democrat and one Republican are co-sponsors for the 09 bill. Additional bill sponsors will be signing on until the bill is actually filed, which should be very soon.

Anyone residing in North Carolina is encouraged to contact your state legislator and ask for their support of The Consumer Health Freedom Act. For more information or comments, contact Lobbyist Mike Causey at (336) 210-1947 or email: nchfreedom@aol.com

    Hello Mr. Causey,
I would like to know more about the Consumer Health Freedom Act. I have already written to my representatives and asked them to support it.
I am strongly for alternative treatments whenever possible and have just run across your web site. I am upset that the government and insurance companies will pay for all the drug and surgical treatments, but won’t pay a penny for natural treatments that are actually much safer for us. I want to have the right to choose whick treatment I will use after being informed of my choices.
My mother died last Jan.(08) from what they said was “pharmacologicaly induced lieukemia”. She was sickly all her life and was always on so many medications. Only in the last year did my sister, who is an alternative method practitioner, get her on some natural treatments, but it was too late.
Thanks for any more information you can give me on your organization and what you are doing.
    Mrs. Jere Neal
